BALTAN LABORATORIES (Eindhoven) organises and hosts a presentation of Dutch, Belgian and German media art laboratories, brought together around three shared themes. This is an international presentation of the Baltan Lab program 'The Future of the Labs'.

Botanoadopt is an interdisciplinary and participatory art project in which users can adopt a plant that is shown like a person with an own history and background via the Internet. Botanadopt works with means of humor and transference of contexts.

CubeBrowser is a six display cube with digital screens that connects to online databases like Flickr.com. The visitor is able to move through thousands of image-sets by turning and shaking the small cube in space. The pictures, which are streamed onto the cube from the internet, are grouped by tags.

In the research centre IBBT-SMIT at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels several researchers are joining in the research cel 'Cultuurlab'.

Fritzing is an open-source initiative to support designers, artists, researchers and hobbyists to work creatively with interactive electronics. Fritzing allows users to document their prototypes, share them with others and to create a pcb layout for professional manufacturing. 

NodeBox is an ongoing effort to create novel graphics software that allows more people to express themselves creatively. Their newest development is “NodeBox 2”, an open source application that generates visual output based on programming code, a node-based interface or natural language (i.e. English).

A team of international MediaLAB students, in collaboration with the artist Matthias Oostrik, have developed an interactive urban projection for the facade of the Dortmunder U. On Wednesday 25 August everybody in Dortmund can dance on the facade of the Dortmunder U, as part of the closing party of the E-Culture Fair 2010.

Noise pollution is a serious problem in many cities. NoiseTube is a research project about a new participative approach for monitoring noise pollution involving the general public. By installing the free application on your GPS equipped phone, you will be able to measure the level of noise in dB(A), and sending this geolocalized information automatically to the NoiseTube server by internet (GPRS).

For one day and one night a green lawn in the City of Dortmund turns into a laboratory for future research in which electricity is produced only by the movements of the visitors. In a wide spectrum of multimedia art there will be performances by international and local media artists, musicians and scientists. The scenario: Huge activity on the festival site, moving objects, interactive installations and discussion panels.

The Moon Goose Experiment (MGE) is based on an excerpt from the book The Man in the Moone, written by the english bishop Francis Godwin in 1603. Godwin was the first person ever to describe weightlessness – long before Newton’s theory of gravity. The protagonist in the book flies to the moon in a chariot towed by gansas birds, more commonly known as geese. These special moon geese migrate every year from the earth to the Moon. The artist equips the space expedition on a sand island in the Siberian river Ob and observes the effect of the total eclipse of the Sun on the behaviour of the moon geese. Culture park Westergasfabriek is the city park of the 21st century. Since its opening in 2003 the people of the Westerpark have been adressing the question: How can digital technology for sharing culture and knowledge enrich the park for its visitors? This innovation agenda was called: Urban Park Laboratories (UPLabs). The Culture Park is outfitted with 8 urban screens, an augmented reality machine (De Tijdkijker), an oral history installation (De Fluisterbank) and 10 GPS Tours. 

Gary is a con artist who operates in various European train stations. In Brussels he conned documentary film-maker Jean-Baptiste Dumont for 100 Euros. A big mistake because now Gary is getting into the centre of attention: "Where is Gary?" is an interactive search for this con artists.
